SYSTEM ENGINEERING

Our mission is based on an engineering approach shown in System Engineering and Program Management.

Here at NET we believe that in every project – big or small – one must go beyond the single infrastructure, the immediate needs. We feel that in order to design and plan responsibly, every project must be seen as a system engineering project.

It must not only be technically feasible but has to be based on the quantitative assessment of its impacts against objectives and constraints internal to the transportation system as well as at the environmental, social, economic and territorial levels.

A system-engineering project considers alternative solutions by identifying the project’s objectives and constraints, satisfying the project’s requirements, defining and describing the elements of the system, simulating impacts, evaluating effectiveness, analysing economic and financial suitability, assessing social acceptance.

The detailed design of the project will only start once all of these considerations have been carefully dealt with.

Il Metodo NET per la Mobilità

L’ingegneria di sistema è una branca interdisciplinare dell’ingegneria che studia lo sviluppo e l’organizzazione di sistemi complessi. L’obiettivo è lo sviluppo di un processo interdisciplinare che supporti la valutazione dei principali impatti generati dai progetti in modo da verificare la loro sostenibilità tecnico-economica e sostenere i decisori nella scelta.

NET Engineering è da sempre all’avanguardia nel mettere in pratica il metodo dell’ingegneria di sistema applicato alla Mobilità, come dimostrano inequivocabilmente i numerosi progetti portati a termine.

Gli elementi ‘tecnici’ del sistema, governati dalle leggi della fisica, sono tradizionalmente oggetto di studio da parte degli ingegneri; le analisi trasportistiche richiedono invece un tipo di approccio totalmente diverso, poichè si basano su concetti derivanti dalle scienze economiche e sociali.

La quantità di merci o il numero di viaggiatori che utilizzano i sistemi di trasporto, le prestazioni di tali sistemi ed i loro impatti sono strettamente connessi alla domanda di mobilità che svolge un ruolo decisivo nella comprensione e nella progettazione dei sistemi di trasporto.

Le scelte progettuali possono incidere su interessi differenti, spesso conflittuali: l’economia, la localizzazione e l’intensità delle attività svolte in un determinato territorio, l’ambiente, la qualità della vita e le relazioni sociali.

A causa del gran numero di variabili e della complessità delle loro interazioni, la modellazione degli effetti generati da un nuovo sistema trasportistico necessita di potenti modelli matematici per una progettazione efficace. Tali strumenti sono fondamentali per la valutazione e la progettazione di azioni che riguardino gli elementi fisici o le componenti organizzative dei sistemi di trasporto.

Il metodo ‘NET’ consiste dunque nel collocare ogni infrastruttura nel contesto socio-economico, territoriale, urbanistico ed ambientale che la ospita, consentendo così ai progettisti di individuare gli impatti generati e ricevuti dall’infrastruttura stessa. In questo modo è possibile individuare la soluzione più idonea e condivisa, che rappresenta il compromesso ‘ottimo’, che tiene conto di tutti i fattori in gioco e risponde ai reali bisogni che il territorio esprime.

Nel Gruppo NET riteniamo che questo sia l’unico modo di affrontare ogni progetto che ci viene affidato, a prescindere dalle sue dimensioni o dalla sua complessità. È questo il motivo per cui, nel corso degli anni, abbiamo sempre soddisfatto i nostri clienti e i diversi stakeholder con le soluzioni progettuali da noi proposte.

Program Management

The design of large infrastructure projects requires appropriate tools and skills to address the high complexity of its implementation.

Complex infrastructures (large urban development projects, road and rail networks, etc.) are not comparable to a single large project: they are described as a set of different projects that are, at the same time, related and aimed at reaching a single goal.

In this context, it is essential to adopt more sophisticated planning and monitoring tools, advanced computer skills and high-level management skills aimed at prioritising resources across projects. The experience and expertise of the team responsible for the management of a project become crucial and essential for a client.
