Re-designing the sustainable cities: NET at the Envision Conference

a speech by NET Group at the Envision Conference 2019, about the value of sustainability for the design of infrastructure

The “Envision Conference 2019” on sustainable infrastructure will be held in Milan on 7 May. It is an event organized by Civiltà di Cantiere with the collaboration of ICMQ and Stantec. The meeting will focus on the adoption of the Envision® protocol, the first rating system that allows designers to guarantee, and measure, the desired degree of sustainability of an infrastructure.

The purpose of this Conference is to stimulate a discussion on current policies, sharing with stakeholders “an updated scenario of the value of sustainability of the infrastructure in our country“.

Among the partners of the initiative, together with NET Engineering International there are Banca Intesa San Paolo, RFI and E2i Energie Speciali.

The NET group will participate in the conference with a speech by Stefano Susani (CEO of NET Engineering International Spa) and Jeffrey Seeck (Head of Group strategy) entitled “Re-designing the cities: the role of sustainable infrastructure” which will illustrate its analytical framework for achieving urban sustainability in planning, focusing on the services and the performance of infrastructure systems.

We have been pioneering in Europe the use of the Envision® – affirms Stefano Susani –  the framework for sustainable infrastructure. Now, we are spreading it into all the conceptual and planning activities that we do. The concentration of people and economic processes that defines the urban condition requires that a continuous and reliable flow of resources is sustained. Therefore, through our R&D Centre NETLab, we created a corporate thematic blog named Flows

As part of the speech held by NET, the redevelopment project of an urban area occupied by a disused railway station in Leipzig, Germany will be analyzed.

Our project will be presented based on a systemic perspective of the city – says Jeffrey Seeck – using the Envision protocol as a metric to reach the overall objective of a ‘Sustainable City’ through the interaction and integration of urban infrastructure networks, each conceived with economic, social and environmental sustainability as the guiding principle“.
