30 Nov Sofia – Elin Pelin line funded under CEF
a step forward in the modernization of the bulgarian railway infrastructure
The European Commission has recently confirmed the funding of the upgrade of the “Sofia – Elin Pelin” railway section: 58 M€ have been allocated under the new Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
The Sofia – Elin Pelin railway section is located on the Orient/East Mediterranean TEN-T Core Network Corridor. It is a crucial issue for the development of the Bulgarian part of the Corridor, since it does not meet the requirements for passenger and freight transport users/operators in terms of speed/travel time, interoperability, safety and security.
The funding of this project represents a step forward in the modernization of the bulgarian railway infrastructure.
On behalf of NRIC, (the bulgarian National Railway Infrastructure Company), NET Engineering is in charge of the “Project Management Consultancy under Contract for Coordination of preparation of technical design and design assessment for Modernization of railway line Sofia-Plovdiv” since 2013.
Among others assignments, NET carried out the whole update of the financial plan and Cost Benefit Analysis and prepared the documentation for the application for funding the project.
