Description

The Sardinia Region has recently renewed its fleet, with the provision of latest generation diesel electric trains produced by Stadler, a Swiss company leader in the rolling stock field.

The new trains are designed for public transport services on the railway lines near Sassari. NET Engineering has been chosen by ARST to design the new workshop that will allow the stop and the maintenance of the modern diesel engines and of the electric traction units. The new building (50m x 20m x 8m) fits into the urban context of Sassari, on the western border of the district calles “Sacro Cuore”, and will be part of a wider project of modernization of the railway infrastructure.

NET was responsible for the Construction Design, the Safety Coordination during Design and other services, such as geological study and geotechnical and environmental investigations.
The design activities included: architectural layout, structures, E&M systems, fire prevention and protection systems and the connection of the workshop to the existing railway line.
