Our history

From a private practice to one of the most important multinational companies in Italy.

The adventure of NET Engineering starts off in 1971 thanks to the initiative of Giovanni Battista Furlan, whose engineering private practice stands out quickly as a benchmark in the field of mobility and transport.

In the nineties, the firm takes advantage of opportunities afforded by the development of the law on public works, becoming one of the first engineering company in Italy. In 2007, with the entry of Assicurazioni Generali  as a shareholder beside historical partners, the NET Engineering International Group is established , with the aim of expanding business internationally.

In over forty years of activity, NET Engineering has contributed to many works of strategic importance for the Country.

PRIVATE PRACTICE ING. g.B. fURLAN

After graduating with honors in Civil Engineering, Giovanni Battista Furlan begins his career by starting his engineering private practice in Monselice (PD).

1989
Third lane of A4  Venezia-Padova

Design and construction management of the third lane of the Venice-Padua motorway.

1990
ESTABLISHMENT OF SICIF AND THE NET CONSORtium

Taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the new laws, the private practice of ing. Furlan evolves into Sicif Progetti s.r.l., one of the first engineering company in Italy.
Together with other three firms of excellence, Sicif constitutes the NET Consortium, which quickly arises as a reference point for transport engineering in Northern Italy.

1992
HIGH-Speed Railway tORINO-vENEZIA

The NET consortium develops the Feasibility Study (among the first examples in Italy) and the Main Design for the high-speed railway line Turin – Venice.

1994
TUrin Railway Bypass

SICIF develops the final and construction design of the quadruplication of the Turin railway by-pass.

1996
Changes in NET CONSORtium

Following some corporate changes, the Consortium NET is fully identified with SICIF and SIC companies, both expression of entrepreneurial engineer Furlan.

1998
SFMR – Metro System OF VENETO Region

The design of the Regional Metropolitan Railway System Veneto begins.

1999
Establishment of NET ENGINEERING

NET Engineering S.p.A comes from the merger of SIC and SICIF that turn into a single stock company.

2000
SMR – Metro System OF CAMPANIA Region

NET develops the system design for the Regional Metropolitan Railway System of Campania region.

2003
MESTRE-VENICE TRAM

Design of the Rubber-tyre tram for Mestre – Venice line.

2005
PADovA EST Road junction

The design of the Padova Est road junction starts. Later, NET will also carry out the construction supervision.

2007
NET becomes INTERNATIONAL

In 2007, with the entry of Assicurazioni Generali as a shareholder beside historical partners, the NET Engineering International Srl (later Spa) is established.

The Generali Group is present in NET as a financial partner in the international public work market for the realization of infrastructure for mobility.

benevento Caianello Motorway Link

The jv led by NET Engineering was appointed as promoter for the development of the Project Financing Initiative for the highway link Benevento – Caianello. It is the first case in Italy of an appointment as promoter for an engineering company.

Acquisition of Sistra 2000

NET Engineering acquires the company Sistra 2000 Srl, with an high expertise in railway systems and technologies. With the entry of the new company, the NET team becomes able to provide the complete cycle of engineering and consulting services in the railway sector.

Program management For City Life – Milan

NET is in charge of the strategic activities for the program management and high surveillance on behalf of the investors in the intervention of urban development City Life (former Milan trade fair).

2011
TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR TE .Italo, HS rail SERVICE

NET develops a passenger demand forecasting system for the first high-speed rail service in Europe provided by a private operator, NTV S.p.A.

2012
 Frejus Safety Tunnel

NET participates in the development of the Final design of the safety tunnel of Frejus.

2013
SASSARI – OLBIA road link

NET leads the consortium of designers in the contract for the construction of the seventh section the national road Sassari-Olbia, one of the most important and complex lots of the entire work.

2015
FUNCTIONAL RECOVERY of Bisagno River

NET is working to complete the final step of one of its historical project, which will contribute significantly to reducing the risk of flooding in the city of Genoa.
